My name is Barbara Harries, I’ve love working with wood. I loved the smell of wood since I was little. My grandfather had past away before I was born. But there was still wood and saw dust under his porch where he cut his wood. When I was little, I remember going under the porch to get a piece of wood and thinking how weird that it smelled like he just cut it. I loved that smell.
Over the years I never really had the time or tools to work on many wood projects. In recent years I have more space and was able to use more tools, so I decided to try making some things. The first thing I made was a wood doors to cover my air conditioner in my kitchen. Then Hurricane Sandy had basically wiped it out the house I grew up in. So it no longer existed as we knew it. So I wanted to make a birdhouse that I could look at out my back window to remind me of my youth. Everyone said it came out very good. So I thought maybe I could make other birdhouses. I made the house I live in now and the nubble light house. (check out my projects)
I since made many other kind of birdhouses. Old Man, dog, masonic, chicken coop and even the Fire Dept in New York City.
I create my company Wood Dreamer Crafts
I decided maybe making smaller items might be nice to give as gifts. So I started making phone stands. They are original designs. Made with a variety of woods, Padauk, Purple Heart, Maple, Ash and more. I inlay them with wood and resin. Since they are hand made no two are exactly alike. Everyone I gave one to loved them and said they used them every day. I was so happy.
So now I have them available on ETSY
I can discuss special requests. The larger items would take weeks to make.
